Red Noses and Red Faces this Comic Relief!

Comic Relief (1)

The team and residents at Harrogate Neighbours have proven that they are willing to go the extra mile (100 miles, to be exact) to support a good cause. In a spirited celebration for Red Nose Day, the organization successfully raised £295 through a combination of creative costumes and a gruelling physical challenge.

Both of our care sites were full of colour as staff and residents embraced a "Dress Up in Red" theme, but the main event of the day was located in the TV Room, with a static cycling challenge that saw participants dress up in crazy clothing and pedal non-stop to hit a century-long milestone.

From Boroughbridge to the Borders

To put their achievement into perspective, the 100 miles covered on the static bike is no small feat. If the team had set off from Boroughbridge in a real-world journey, their collective pedal power would have carried them:

  • North: Well past Newcastle-upon-Tyne, reaching as far as Alnwick, famous for its historic castle.

  • South: All the way to the outskirts of Leicester or the heart of the East Midlands.

  • West: Across the Pennines, past Blackpool, and potentially into the Irish Sea!

  • East: They would have run out of land long ago, reaching roughly 60 miles out into the North Sea after passing the Yorkshire coast.

Community Spirit in Action

The funds raised will go directly to Comic Relief, supporting vulnerable people across the UK and around the world. The event not only raised vital cash but also brought a sense of shared accomplishment to the residents, many of whom cheered on the cyclists throughout the day.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part! Whether they were clocking up miles on the bike or simply brightening the day by wearing red, the community spirit was fantastic. Raising £300 is a wonderful result for a cause that does so much good!
