Meet our CEO & Senior Managers

Harrogate Neighbours could not provide the level of care it does without the support of our fantastic team.
All of our staff and volunteers are led and supported by our senior management team who are dedicated to providing the highest quality care possible.

Sue Cawthray – Chief Executive

I have worked within the elderly sector for over 25 years including hands on support and care, business management and strategic planning, marketing and fund raising.  I use my skills and commitment to the health care sector to strive to make a difference to the people living in our local communities. I am passionate about support and care of the elderly and their relatives and in particular, my specialist areas are dementia, nutrition and hydration.  I sincerely believe that it is paramount that older people are provided with a service where they live well with dignity, respect and choice. I joined Harrogate Neighbours as the CEO in 2005 and have led the organisation to where it is today – a leading care provider in North Yorkshire County Council.  In my spare time I volunteer as a trustee on two local Leeds based charities that provide care and support services to the community, a director of the Independent Care Group (ICG) and I am currently the National Chair for the National Association of Care Catering.   I enjoy cake decorating, singing with my local choir and spending time with my family.

Louise Swart – Scheme Manager at The Cuttings

I started working for Harrogate Neighbours in October 2007 and I became the Scheme Manager in 2011. I am responsible for the support & well-being of the tenants that live at The Cuttings and oversee the day-to-day running of the scheme. I originally qualified in 1984 as a State Registered Nurse. I love every aspect of my job and making a valuable difference to all the tenants in my care. HNHA is a fantastic company to work for; we are a forward thinking organisation and we are always looking at how we can improve the lives for those that we care for.

Denise McEvoy – Head of Care Services

I started working for Harrogate Neighbours’ in October 2017 as the Home Manager for Heath Lodge, which cares for 28 elderly Residents.  Since then, I became the Head of Care Services, also responsible for managing Greenfield Court Care, which provides support to those that live in both The Cuttings and our local community.

Despite having worked in Social Care for over 30 years’, I had not previously worked for a Charity. Since joining I have been amazed to see how a Charity can manage and overcome the challenges we face in Health and Social Care.  Our diverse team feel valued and in turn, provide excellent care to all of our Clients, Tenants and Residents.  Outside of work, I have supported people with learning and physical disability disabilities for the past 15 years.  I am very family orientated and I would recommend anyone that shares these values to get in touch with Harrogate Neighbours, where you will feel right at home!

Anne Hardaker – Head of Finance

I started working for HNHA in June 2019.  I am the Head of Finance for the organisation, with over 30 years of accounting/financial experience and I oversee the Finance Department.  Outside of work, I enjoy nothing more than spending time with my family and friends.  I enjoy the theatre, eating out and socialising.   I love to travel and my passport is a very treasured possession.  HNHA is a fantastic company to work for and I thrive on being part of a team that really can enrich a person’s life on a daily basis.

I began my career at Harrogate Neighbours’ in December 2006 as a Kitchen Assistant, and then gained my qualifications as a chef in 2008, winning student of the year from the entire Harrogate/Hull college group. I have gained many awards along my journey, and most proudly, being named National Association of Care Catering Care Chef of the year for the entire North of England in 2011. In 2019 I was delighted that our Meals on Wheels Service – Harrogate and Ripon Food Angels achieved the Queen’s Award for Volunteer Service – a service that is key to our community but is supported by a fantastic group of volunteers.   I have been very privileged to navigate my way to where I am today as Hospitality Manager, where I have gained all my experience in the catering sector with the fantastic support from this wonderful organisation. I fully understand the different services we provide across our sites and  I work closely with my amazing team to ensure that all of our clients have their nutritional and hydrational needs met, but more importantly exceeded so that we make a difference to each individuals day, and to provide smiles along the way.

In my spare time I love nothing more than spending time with my family and children, and when not spending time with them, you will probably find me on a snooker table, of which I am a snooker fanatic, and captain of a local team.

If you would like to know more about Harrogate Neighbours or are interested in becoming part of our team then get in touch. We are always on the lookout for exceptional people to join us as we continue to grow.
